Bringing Out The Big Guns

OK, I upset Parky - that much is obvious, because just two days after I damned him in the post below he arranged for a very grave punishment.

Pig Flu!

Of all the inelegant-sounding, media-hyped, but still fairly-unpleasant-when-experienced-first-hand diseases to inflict upon a poor struggling author.

Michael, you have made it clear you are not to be messed with, so I shall be keeping this MEG RYAN TALISMAN on my blog to ward your evil spirit away.

Begone, Parkinson! Begone!

Oh no, you've incurred the wrath of Parky, too? OK, well all I can say is DON'T try this home remedy for chesty coughs that I insisted The Australian make for me last night:

quarter tsp cayenne pepper
quarter tsp ground ginger
tbsp honey
tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp water

We only had some suspicious looking strawberry honey and red wine vinegar, as well as the cayenne and the ginger, but I took my medicine like a good girl / someone who is used to being dared to drink something. Absolutely vile. Really, there is enough evil in the world without this kind of horror.

Get well soon, C! x

Do you really have the piggy flu? If so are you sure it was Parky you upset, not Perky? Or even Pinky? Anyway, no matter just get well soon.

This is a recipe I've always used:

Lemon (freshly squeezed)
Honey
Cloves
Boiling water
A large nip of whisky (not the good stuff, mind)

Drink 8 or 9 of them and you'll feel much, much better. Although I always throw out the cloves. Despite their anaesthetic effect, they taste like arse.
